Du lịch học tập cộng đồng (Community Learning Tourism - CLT) là một hướng đi cần thiết, biến du lịch thành công cụ trao quyền, bảo tồn văn hóa và thúc đẩy phát triển bền vững. Ngoài ra, CLT còn đặt người dân địa phương vào trung tâm trải nghiệm, trao cho họ quyền kiểm soát để biến du lịch thành một yếu tố cải thiện đời sống.

Mô hình du lịch học tập cộng đồng tạo ra cơ hội kinh tế thông qua các dịch vụ lưu trú tại nhà dân, giới thiệu các câu chuyện địa phương và hàng thủ công mỹ nghệ, đồng thời nuôi dưỡng lòng tự hào về di sản văn hóa. Thêm vào đó, CLT cũng thúc đẩy bảo tồn môi trường, khuyến khích cả du khách và cộng đồng địa phương bảo vệ tài nguyên thiên nhiên, áp dụng các phương pháp bền vững. Đối với du khách, CLT mang đến những trải nghiệm chân thực và sâu sắc, giúp kết nối ý nghĩa với người dân và địa phương. - Direct learning from real expert: Interaction and lecture provided by Doctor Chu Manh Trinh who initiated CBT in Cu Lao Cham Bio-reserve Island, Thanh Dong District, Quang Ngai Province and Hoa Bac District

Lecturer & resource person: Dr. Chu Manh Trinh

After completing his doctoral studies domestically and gaining research experience in the United States and the Netherlands, Dr. Chu Manh Trinh returned to Vietnam and became deeply involved in forestry. Although he once ventured into the fish sauce processing industry, his passion for marine science drew him to Cu Lao Cham in 2003. Here, he devoted himself to researching and protecting the unique marine ecosystem.

Since Hoi An became a World Heritage Site, Cu Lao Cham has faced the negative impacts of climate change and rapid tourism development. In response to this situation, Dr. Trinh was the first to initiate the "community-based learning tourism" model. He directly taught local people about the benefits of conservation and earning income from tourism. He guided local fishermen and community members on the skills needed for sustainable tourism development, such as waste sorting, responsible fishing, and biodiversity conservation. Thanks to his tireless efforts, Cu Lao Cham has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve.

Not stopping at the Cu Lao Cham conservation project, Dr. Chu Manh Trinh has actively participated in numerous other conservation projects. He has supported local communities and contributed to community-based tourism models, managed water coconut forests in Cam Thanh commune (Hoi An City, Quang Nam province), developed proposals for Lý Sơn tourism (Quang Ngai) to approach conservation and sustainable development, and supported many students in the summer course - the Green Hòa Bắc Basin (Da Nang) in preserving culture and environment for the people of Hòa Bắc and Da Nang.
